A double decker bus in Scunthorpe was destroyed following an electrical fire on board.
Crews from Humberside Fire and Rescue were called to Carlton Street at around 6.30pm on Tuesday following reports of a fire on board a bus belonging to local company Hornsby Travel.
No passengers were on board during the time of the fire, and the driver was luckily uninjured. Humberside Fire and Rescue officers have since determined the cause of the fire to be accidental.
Karl Robinson, General Manager at Hornsby Travel, said: “Our thanks go to Humberside Fire and Rescue for attending and managing this unexpected incident quickly and efficiently. At the time of the fire the bus was heading back to our depot so it was thankfully empty of passengers and our driver acted promptly to ensure there was no harm to himself.
“We encourage our passengers to remember how unusual an electrical fire is on a vehicle and we look forward to seeing them travelling with us soon.”
