There will be a series of overnight closures on a major Scunthorpe-area road while a zebra crossing is “revamped”.
North Lincolnshire Council will improve the crossing on Ashby High Street near Victoria Road to “make it safer for children and older people who live in the area to use the popular high street”.
The work will see the construction of a buildout on the southern side of the existing crossing and the installation of a “bolt-down buildout”.
It is scheduled to begin on Monday, March 10 and expected to take two weeks to complete. The second week of the scheme, beginning Monday, March 17, will include road closures over five evenings between 6pm and 11pm for resurfacing work.
Cllr Tim Mitchell, cabinet member for connectivity said: “We have seen several accidents close to the zebra crossing on Ashby Road and our plans will make the road safer for pedestrians, vehicles and cyclists.
“We will only be closing the road overnight to minimise any disruption.”
