Grimsby court list – Ten offenders named and shamed

A man who inflicted grievous bodily harm upon a person, a motorist who drove under the influence of cocaine and cannabis and a thief who made off without paying for petrol have been sentenced at Grimsby Magistrates’ Court.

While some cases were adjourned to a later date and others sent to Grimsby Crown Court, magistrates in Grimsby have still handed out prison sentences, community orders and hefty fines to offenders from across northern Lincolnshire in recent days.

Here are ten people who were sentenced at Grimsby Magistrates’ Court last week.

Jayden Key, 18, of Roberts Street, Grimsby was found guilty of inflicting grievous bodily harm on a person without intent and pleaded guilty to assault by beating. He was given a community order with the requirement to complete 100 hours of unpaid work and ordered to pay £350 in compensation.

Michael Smith, 40, of Gravel Pit Road, Barton pleaded guilty to driving under the influence of cocaine and cannabis, driving without due care and attention, driving without an appropriate licence and driving without insurance. He was jailed for 16 weeks, banned from driving for three years and ordered to pay £300 in compensation.



Grimsby Magistrates’ Court

Oliver Dillon, 34, of Crowland Avenue, Grimsby pleaded guilty to harassment in which he sent numerous emails to the victim after being told to cease contact. He was given a five-year restraining order and given a community order with the requirement to undergo alcohol rehabilitation.

Darren Barker, 43, of Rochdale Road, Scunthorpe indicated pleas of guilty to three counts of making off without paying for £240 worth of petrol. He was given a six-month conditional discharge and ordered to pay back the full amount in compensation and £100 in costs.

Sarah Wilkinson, 48, of Kirkstead Crescent, Grimsby pleaded guilty to driving above the legal alcohol limit and one count of assault by beating and indicated a plea of guilty to the common assault of an emergency worker, namely a police constable. She was banned from driving for three years and given a community order with the requirement to undergo alcohol rehabilitation. She was also ordered to pay £50 in compensation.

Jordan Boyd, 19, of Wybeck Road, Scunthorpe pleaded guilty to the assault by beating of an emergency worker, namely a police constable, driving without insurance and failing to stop the vehicle when ordered to do so by police. He was given a two-year conditional discharge, banned from driving for one week and ordered to pay £100 in compensation.

Samantha Lodge, 55, of Tivoli Gardens, Grimsby changed a previous plea of not guilty to guilty for assault by beating. She was given a two-year restraining order and ordered to pay a £120 fine, £100 in costs and a £48 victim services surcharge.

Ian Shirley, 45, of Alexandra Road, Grimsby pleaded guilty to using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour with intent to cause fear of or provoke unlawful violence. He was given a two-year conditional discharge and ordered to pay £85 in costs and a £26 victim services surcharge.

Vicky Stephenson, 32, of Heneage Road, Grimsby pleaded guilty to sending a communication, namely a Facebook message, that was of an indecent or grossly offensive nature and was for the purpose of causing distress or anxiety to the recipient. She was ordered to pay £85 in costs and an £80 fine.

Aden Symes, 21, of Eastoft Road, Crowle pleaded guilty to breaching a restraining order by allowing the victim to reside at his home address. He was jailed for 12 weeks.
