Craft beer chain BrewDog has announced a limited-edition pint honouring the Humber involving a team-up of breweries from the north bank and south bank – and it could be crowned the best in Europe.
The chain has partnered with multiple small breweries across Europe as part of its largest beer festival of the year – Collabfest.
In our region, Grimsby’s Docks Beers and Hull’s Bone Machine have joined forces up to create Bridge Over Troubled Water.

Together they created the 5 per cent hazy IPA, which has gooseberry and Nelson Sauvin notes creating a fruity drink worthy of the Humber. Other breweries taking part include Bang The Elephant collaborating with BrewDog Nottingham, BrewDog Oslo teaming up with Molo Brew, and Gipsy Hill joining forces with BrewDog Shoreditch.
Available exclusively at Brewdog Hull, Bridge Over Troubled Water will be a part of a live leaderboard to determine which independent breweries from around Europe can make the best beer. Bars will host a different line-up of beer every day, allowing drinkers to trial a wide selection.
Each bar will also have interactive booklets and stickers on display, so customers can get involved and record their own bespoke reviews for each brew. Drinkers will be able to rank their beer on the rating app Untappd and view the leaderboard on the Brewdog website.

James Watt, co-founder and CEO of BrewDog, said: “Nothing beats a bit of healthy competition, so I am delighted to announce that Collabfest is returning to BrewDog bars across Europe.
“With 31 different brews being created – from IPAs, to stouts, to sours – the competition is going to be fierce. I’m just glad it’s not me having to decide between them all! I can’t wait to see what gets crowned as the best of the rest.”
Bridge Over Troubled Water will be available at Brewdog Hull, in Princes Quay, between Thursday, October 19 and Sunday, October 22.
