A Grimsby-born chef is bidding farewell to Michelin-star restaurant Winteringham Fields, after an impressive nine years of service.
Gareth Bartram, who started his culinary journey in a Cleethorpes butcher’s shop, will leave the prestigious Scunthorpe restaurant at the end of February. He will be handing over the reigns to chef James Nicklin, who he has worked alongside for four years.
However, all is not lost as Gareth is expected to announce some ‘exciting news’ in the coming weeks. Fans of his food are hoping for a new venture in the local area.

Taking to Instagram on January 29, Gareth said: “So I’m sure lots of you are now aware, I will be leaving Winteringham Fields at the end of February. To say I’m going to miss Winteringham Fields is a massive understatement, as I have loved every minute of my time here, but the time has come to move on and explore new opportunities.”
The chef extended his thanks to the owner of the restaurant, Colin McGurran, for his guidance over the years. He added that the restaurant will go from strength to strength with James Nicklin heading up the kitchen.
Gareth continued: “To the team past and present, thank you for your dedication, passion, hard work and commitment to delivering such a high standard of food, service and hospitality. We wouldn’t have achieved so much without all of you!
“I will still be doing what I do at Winteringham Fields until the end of February but what does the future hold for the Bartrams after February? We have some exciting news which will follow in the next few weeks, watch this space.”
