A community group in Scunthorpe is one step closer to saving the former Lincoln Imp pub, with a view to use the much-loved derelict building as a live music and entertainment venue and bring it back to its former glory.
Organised by the Long Live The Imp group, a live music event by local band Ace of Kings will be held at the Attis Arena (formerly Glanford Park) today (Saturday, April 13) from 12.30pm, before Scunthorpe United FC‘s match against Blyth Spartans.
There, members of the public are encouraged to sign their names on a petition as part of a public consultation to save the former pub on Gloucester Avenue, and transform it into a venue for live music and entertainment. The venue has sat empty since August 2022.

As previously reported, the Lincoln Imp building was saved from demolition in November last year, with North Lincolnshire Council’s planning committee rejecting plans to demolish the “community asset” venue to make way for new housing, following a public outcry.
The decision came after former pub staff and customers publicly shared what the venue meant to them, with former member of staff Chantelle Middleton telling Scunthorpe Live: “It was the one place where people from any background, who was out there, or just dressed differently felt accepted, I definitely did.”
Former pub landlady Lorraine Briggs, who ran The Lincoln Imp from 2014 until its closure and runs the Long Live The Imp group, said last year that she still receives emails from bands from all over the world asking to play at the venue. In 2017, it was ranked as the third best small music venue in the UK.
Chairman of the Iron Trust, Cllr Tony Gosling, also sits on the Long Live The Imp group. He said: “Please show your support for saving the Imp by signing the petition which will be available before the game at turnstiles. We will have the petition available for signatures at Trust corner too.”
The public petition will be available to sign during the live music event by Ace of Kings outside Attis Arena in Scunthorpe from 12.30pm on Saturday, April 13.
