A popular restaurant which has brought a “slice of London to Grimsby” is relocating to Cleethorpes.
Arriving in Abbeygate, in Grimsby town centre, back in 2022, Nasturtium began by serving an array of delicious breakfast, brunch and lunch options to the public, before launching its eclectic and modern evening set menu the following year to rave reviews.
The restaurant has been so successful that owner and chef Jack Phillips has now secured a larger premises, at the site of the former Captain’s Table restaurant – and subsequently The Funny Onion – on Kingsway in Cleethorpes. He plans to officially open the new Nasturtium in May.

Speaking to Grimsby Live, Jack said: “The new site will have the same high-quality brunch and restaurant wares, but the venue itself is bigger so I can facilitate a team in the kitchen, so we have have more options in the evening. Everything will be priced individually, so if customers don’t want a three-course meal, it’s no problem.
“There will be a bigger wine menu and draft craft beers along with a collaboration with a local brewery for a Nasturtium beer. We will still be focusing on fine dining in the evening with a Japanese and Scandinavian influence.”
Jack said he has been delighted at the success of Nasturtium since he set up shop on Abbeygate two years ago.
He continued: “I’m really proud to be taking it to the next level of its evolution and making it more accessible for new customers that are not too challenged with food offerings, and giving more options with drinks and cocktails.
“I get a lot of people telling me that I’ve helped to change the food scene in Grimsby, which feels amazing. We did the Japanese food one week not thinking it would sell as well as it did, but we sold out almost immediately and since then there has been more of a visible food culture change.”
Proposed main dishes on the menu at the new Cleethorpes site include Braised Lamb Shoulder Ragu with Pappardelle and Wild Garlic, Braised Short Rib with Smoked Marrow Bone Sauce and Lemon Persillade, and Halibut with Vin Juan Sauce, Parsley Oil and Smoked Mussels.
The current restaurant on Abbeygate will close on Saturday, April 27, with the new restaurant set to open in May. Like Nasturtium on Facebook here to keep up-to-date with announcements.
