I finally got the chance to try the food on offer at Cleethorpes‘ newest Italian restaurant.
Situated at 28 Sea View Street, Casa Nostra opened its doors to the public back in February following an extensive renovation within both the former Petit Delight premises and the adjoining Corks Twenty Eight.
Serving up a wide range of meals, from its woodfired pizzas and sharing platters to its extensive list of pastas and risotto dishes, Casa Nostra was the first place I thought of when the craving for some good old-fashioned Italian food hit one evening.

We headed there on a weeknight without making a prior booking, and were seated at a table straight away. The atmosphere of the restaurant is lovely – with its scenic shots of Italian hotspots hung on the wall, the red and green décor and the hand-painted sign at the bar.
It felt very traditional and authentic with some nice, modern touches throughout – I really like what the new owners have done with the place. There’s no denying that it’s an Italian restaurant, that’s for sure.
We were peckish, but not overly hungry – which makes a change – so we just went for some olives to start with. For my main course, I ordered a very simple Margherita pizza, referred to as ‘Mammargherita’ on the menu, topped with San Marzano tomatoes, Fior di Latte, basil and olive oil, and priced at £10. My partner went for the Caesar Salad, which was £13.
The food was served quickly by the friendly member of staff, and we dug in. I did like the fact that the pizza came with scissors for cutting – it might not be for everyone, but I think cutting pizza with scissors is so much easier than those pizza cutters that end up dislodging all the cheese. You can probably tell I’ve given this topic a silly amount of thought.
Anyway, the pizza itself was delicious. Woodfired pizza – the kind you get when you visit Italy itself – has always been my absolute favourite kind of pizza. So to have another restaurant in the area serving it – and doing it well – makes me very happy indeed.
The crust was perfectly crispy, and the Fior di Latte mozzarella cheese just melted in my mouth. Combined with the tangy flavour of fresh tomatoes and the unique taste of fresh basil leaves, the pizza as a whole was just lovely, and tasted just like the ones you get in Italy.
Next time I visit, I’ll definitely order a more substantial starter and main course with a bit more character – but on this occasion I was just craving a good old Margherita pizza.
And yes, I’ll definitely be visiting again. I hope Casa Nostra remains on Sea View Street for years to come, and I wish the owners every success.
