A peek inside The Wheatsheaf in Grimsby after extensive £500,000 refurbishment

A popular Grimsby pub and restaurant has officially reopened to the public following an extensive £500,000 refurbishment.

Situated on Bargate, The Wheatsheaf closed to the public for around three weeks to allow for the works to take place, which incorporated an upheaval of the back of house – including a brand-new kitchen area with fresh kit and a new roof – and a contemporary makeover of the bar area and upstairs function room.

Danielle Smith, General Manager at The Wheatsheaf, told Grimsby Live: “We’ve had a complete refurb throughout, from the front garden to the pub to the function room, but the majority of the work has been carried out back of house. The kitchen area has all been redone to help with service, and we’ve had the roof done and the cellar redone.

“The quality of back of house has massively improved, and there’s more kit in there to work with. Inside the pub, there’s a whole different atmosphere to it now, and it feels a lot more cosy. People’s comments have been really positive.”

Danielle confirmed that new items will be launching on the menu in April. The Wheatsheaf offers a fixed-price food menu with three courses available for £11.49 from noon-5pm, Monday-Friday, and £14.49 after 5pm.
