Myos House, in Warwick Road, opened up for the day to allow members of the public to find out more about the work it does
A groundbreaking living facility in Scunthorpe which cares for people with dementia opened up for the day to give members of the public an insight into the work it does.
Located on Warwick Road, the first-of-its-kind independent living facility Myos House opened in September 2021.
The building is made up of 25 two-bedroom apartments, alongside specially-designed communal spaces for residents to socialise and relax.

Loved ones and carers are permitted to stay with residents as part of the scheme, which is centred around helping them live independently with as much or as little help and support as they need.
Anita Catley, Ongo’s dementia scheme officer, said: “We’re delighted to be opening our doors and welcoming people inside.
“I think sometimes people may not fully understand what we offer here at Myos, so it’ll be great to show them and answer any questions they may have.
“Although we are a specialist building and have facilities to care for those living here, our emphasis is on independent living, with care tailored to meet the needs of an individual.
“We’re not a care home. Some people live here and don’t need any additional help, but it can be arranged when and if they do.
“If you’d like to find out more for yourself or a loved one, please do come along and meet us, we’re all very friendly and would love to get the message out as far and wide as possible.”
On Thursday, November 23, the building opened its doors to the public for a special open day, with tours, refreshments, and even therapy dogs on hand.
