The annual Scunny Bikers’ festive run is set to return this weekend, as children on the Disney Ward at Scunthorpe Hospital will receive a bumper load of goodies. Motorbikes of all shapes and sizes will be roaring onto the hospital site on Sunday, December 10 to donate toys for the kids.
A convoy of motorcyclists will meet at The Old Farmhouse pub and restaurant on Doncaster Road at 11am and will leave at 12.30pm. They will be travelling to Gunness and Burringham before arriving at the Church Lane entrance of the hospital between 12.45pm and 1pm.
Gavin Stubbs, event organiser, said: “We usually get between 50 and 80 bikes on the day. I want to say a big thank you to the local community for all the donations.

“Our members absolutely love putting a smile on the children’s faces. It’s a wonderful way to kick-start our Christmas by donating to our local hospital.”
Businesses have also donated towards the cause. Polypipe Underfloor Heating is giving £500 cash, Can-Pack UK has donated £500 towards toys and Jenny’s Café in Hibaldstow, Tesco and The Old Farmhouse have all offered support too.
Vikki McAlpline, Disney’s Ward Manager, said: “We are truly grateful to Scunny Bikers for organising their Christmas toy run. The children’s faces light up when they see all of the fantastic gifts.
“It’s tough for children in hospital at any time of the year but it’s particularly hard at Christmas. This helps take their mind off what they’re going through.”
