Christmas arrives with a bang in Freshney Place as the Elf Station opens – the full festive round-up

Santa is arriving with a bang in Grimsby this weekend as the ever-popular Elf Station in Freshney Place officially opens its doors.

Each weekend from Saturday, November 25 to Sunday, December 17, children will be able to meet the big man himself along with his famous elves, and have their picture taken between 11am and 3pm.

Situated near Millie’s Cookies, the Elf Station will also include an array of fun and free craft activities, as well as the chance to post Christmas letters to Santa via his special post box, which is situated a short walk away near Next.

All letters posted by Saturday, December 16 will receive a reply through the post from Santa – so don’t forget to include your address.

Entertainers will also be on hand throughout Freshney Place during the festive season, from the mischievous Grinch and Cindy Lou causing havoc to popular local singer Marty Clarke, playing a whole host of festive classics live.

Amanda Austin, centre director at Freshney Place, said: “Christmas is just the best time at Freshney Place Shopping Centre. The atmosphere is fabulous, and we know that families love the Elf Station, which gives children that all-important chance to meet Father Christmas, and it’s free of charge.

“We know our visitors will enjoy the warm festive atmosphere around the centre, as well as the entertainers who will be appearing at weekends during late November and December.”

Late-night shopping at Freshney Place will also commence from Thursday, November 30, and will run every Thursday until December 21. The centre is also open until 7pm on December 22 and 23, to ensure you can snap up those last-minute gifts.

Freshney Place is also running its annual Christmas campaign, Have a Heart, which invites the public to donate Christmas gifts to children living locally who might not receive anything this year. The donations are then distributed by local charities in the run up to Christmas.

The shopping centre is also working in partnership with charity organisation Not Home Alone, and the public are invited to post Christmas cards for the elderly at Santa’s postbox. For more information, click here.
