Cleethorpes Coast Light Railway gears up for Summer Steam Festival

Get ready for a steam-powered spectacle as Cleethorpes Coast Light Railway gears up to welcome the summer season with its highly anticipated Summer Steam Festival.

This year’s festival, set for the weekend of July 13 and 14, will feature a special naming ceremony led by the Mayor of North East Lincolnshire, Cllr Steve Beasant. It follows the refurbishment of resident locomotive No. 5, which will be christened by delegates from Cleethorpes’ twin town, Königswinter, marking 50 years of twinning, on Saturday, July 13 at 1.30pm, at Lakeside Station.

Adding to the excitement, visiting steam locomotives ‘Sian’ and ‘Badger’ from Whistlestop Valley will join the Cleethorpes fleet for an unforgettable weekend. For those keen to explore, Lakeside Station will host a fascinating display of miniature traction engines and vintage vehicles including buses, coaches and cars, alongside classic attractions such as crazy golf, a drive-it-yourself tram tailored for younger enthusiasts and an exhibition showcasing the history of the railway.
