A brand new coffee shop with modern and trendy décor and an array of eclectic items on the menu has set up shop in Cleethorpes.
Situated in Market Street, Blend Coffee & Bar has been a “labour of love” for owners Joe Patterson, 27, his partner Emily Herring, and her mum, Liz.
A coffee shop by day and relaxed restaurant by night, the eatery is the second branch in the country to open, with the family having launched the first in their hometown of Chesterfield.

From 5pm to 8pm, diners can enjoy a selection of grazing boards, from Baked Camembert and the Trio of Cheeses to the Ultimate Graze, made up of cheeses, Italian meats, crackers, olives, pork pies, Scotch eggs, fresh veg, crusty bread, oils, chutney, grapes and pickles.
Speaking to Grimsby Live, Joe said: “It’s been an emotional journey. It’s taken us about six weeks to get the place turned around, which is a long turnaround time, but we got there in the end. Apart from the bar being built, we’ve done everything else ourselves. It’s been a labour of love.
“When you put that effort into it yourself and you really care about the place, that comes across to the customers, too. We’ve tried to keep the menu as streamlined as possible – we’re a coffee shop by day so we’ve tried to look at the bigger commercial brands and their menus, and try to add a little bit more to that.
“So in the day time, we try to keep things minimalistic with a small lunch menu. We do outside catering offering graze tables, and we’ve incorporated those graze tables into our evening menu. We do a sharing platter called ‘The Ultimate Graze’.
“We’re a family-run business, which is so crucial to a town like Cleethorpes. It’s lovely to feel part of the community. We’re not from here originally – we’re from Chesterfield – but this is a place we’ve held dear in our hearts since we were children, so we wanted to come here and bring that family feel to Cleethorpes.
“I think we offer that personal touch. In so many places, you can go in for food or drinks, but whether it’s asking someone how their day is or fussing with their dogs, that personal touch is really important.
“Since my partner was young, it’s always been her dream to open a coffee shop, and we both wanted to open our own business. I think without each other, it wouldn’t have happened. We needed each other to make it happen.”
