Crest Nicholson breaks ground on first Yorkshire housing scheme

Housebuilder Crest Nicholson has launched its first Yorkshire development after breaking ground in the village of Sprotbrough.

The company held a groundbreaking event at Copley Park, with the first spades hitting the ground for development to start on 69 new two to five-bedroom properties, including 23% affordable housing. First completions at the multimillion pound development are due next Summer and Crest Nicholson is also making a £630,000 contribution to local public open space and educational facilities.

The company said the event marked a “monumental moment” for the business as its expand into Yorkshire. Once finished, alongside residential properties Copley Park will provide easy access to local schools and play areas, a nature reserve and a selection of pubs and restaurants.

  • Copley Park is set four miles from Doncaster, and Guy Evans, regional director, said the development will appeal to a range of buyers including first time buyers, young families and professional commuters looking for modern homes.

    Mr Evans was appointed as head of the firm’s new Yorkshire division to lead the company’s expansion into Northern England, which forms part of the company’s growth strategy to deliver over 4,000 new home completions annually by 2026. His team are based at a new divisional office at Thorpe Park, on the outskirts of Leeds.

    The Crest Nicholson Yorkshire division is overseeing North, West and South Yorkshire as well as the East Riding.

    Mr Evans said: “We are pleased to have broken ground at our first site in Yorkshire, Copley Park, kickstarting our mission to deliver high-quality homes in the North East of England. The development will have a strong, positive effect on the wider Sprotbrough community, providing new jobs, infrastructure and most importantly, much needed high quality homes for local people.”

    The company added that residents at Copley Park will enjoy the benefits of a village lifestyle, while also having access to all the amenities they need including local schools, high-street shopping, nightlife, and supermarkets. The first homes at Copley Park will be released for sale in November.
