Extreme images, Grimsby Town ban and thief with ‘out-of-control’ XL Bully – court round-up

A man caught with indecent images of children and extreme pictures of animals has appeared at Grimsby Magistrates’ Court, along with a football fan who was banned for three years, a young woman who threatened to kill a person, and a thief who had an “out-of-control” XL Bully dog.

Magistrates in Grimsby handed out prison sentences, hefty fines and community orders to people from across northern Lincolnshire in recent days. Other cases were adjourned to be tried at a later date and some were sent to Grimsby Crown Court.

Steven Walker, 52, of Lord Street, Grimsby indicated pleas of guilty to making indecent photographs of children in the least serious category and two counts of possessing extreme pornographic images and videos of a person engaging in a sexual act with an animal. He was handed a rehabilitation activity requirement and placed on the sex offenders’ register for five years.

Andy Hutson, 41, of Cordeaux Drive, Grimsby pleaded guilty to using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour with intent to cause fear of or provoke unlawful violence. He was banned from all Grimsby Town FC matches at Blundell Park for three years and given an 18-month conditional discharge, as well as being charged a £26 victim services surcharge.

Leona Lings, 20, of Swinburne Road, Scunthorpe pleaded guilty to harassment by causing fear of violence, having sent a victim a photograph of her standing outside their house holding a knife. She also admitted another count of harassment having threatened another victim that she would “ruin her life and kill her”. Lings also admitted using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour with intent to cause fear of or provoke unlawful violence and one count of criminal damage. She was given a rehabilitation activity requirement.

Susan Brant, 50, of Edwards Road, Scunthorpe pleaded guilty to one count of making a threat to kill, intending for the other person to fear that the threat would be carried out. She was ordered to abstain from drinking alcohol for 120 days and to comply with a rehabilitation activity requirement. She was also ordered to pay a £114 victim services surcharge and £50 in costs to the Crown Prosecution Service.

Thomas Hanley, 30, of Duke Street, Grimsby indicated pleas of guilty to breaching a restraining order, two counts of assaulting an emergency worker and one count of criminal damage to a police vehicle. He also pleaded guilty to one count of assault by beating. He was handed a 12-month suspended sentence and ordered to pay £200 in compensation.

Lee Silk-Reeves, 36, of no fixed abode pleaded guilty to two counts of theft from a shop, two counts of making off without paying for petrol and owning a dog that was dangerously out of control, namely an XL Bully. He was imprisoned for 16 weeks and ordered to pay £2,500 in compensation.

Jamie Forbes, 46, of Ravenspurn Way, Grimsby indicated pleas of guilty to theft from a shop, criminal damage in which he damaged a cell at Birchin Way custody suite, and two counts of assaulting a police officer. He was jailed for 20 weeks and ordered to pay £200 in compensation.

Nicola Cooper, 53, of Tivoli Gardens, Grimsby pleaded guilty to possession of cocaine and heroin. She was handed a 12-month conditional discharge and ordered to pay £85 in costs to the Crown Prosecution Service and a £26 victim services surcharge.

Liam Warman, 24, of no fixed abode pleaded guilty to three counts of theft from a shop in which he stole £150-worth of products from Boots and £30 of products from B&M. He was imprisoned for four months.

Neil Hunter, 43, of Firsby Crescent, Grimsby pleaded guilty to sending an offensive, indecent, obscene or menacing message. He was fined £200 and ordered to pay £85 in costs to the Crown Prosecution Service.
