Clarks shoe shop in Frehsney Place is set to close in a matter of days, it has been announced.
The retailer has confirmed it will be closing its doors at the end of the month with the nearest shops being in Louth, Scunthorpe and Hull. The company did not give a reason for its decision to close, but said it is working closely with staff at this difficult time.
Customers have been encouraged to shop online with the brand following the closure or go to nearby stores. The news comes just days after the Grimsby shopping centre announced it would be welcoming two national retailers into Freshney Place.

A Clarks spokesperson said: “Clarks confirms its store at the Freshney Place Shopping Centre, Grimsby, will close at the end of October 2023. We have a strong duty of care to all our employees, and we are working closely with the store team as they go through a period of consultation.
“Customers can continue to shop from our full range of products online and at our nearby Clarks stores in Louth and Hull.”
The news comes off the back of the recent reopening of New Look which originally left the centre in January 2022. Also opening their new £300,000 shop will be One Beyond, a discount retailer.
In recent months and years, Freshney Place has seen many popular brands come and go including the likes of Clintons Cards in April this year and Starbucks in August. The shopping centre is currently undergoing extensive changes as part of a huge investment by North East Lincolnshire Council which will see the introduction of revamped open spaces, a new market and a cinema.
