Police have launched a crackdown on a group of “masked” quad bike and motorbike riders in Scunthorpe, after reports of dangerous driving and antisocial behaviour on Saturday.
Officers were called to the Central Park area, where witnesses reported bikers covering their faces with masks and deliberately frightening people. A dispersal order has been issued for Central Park and an increased police presence has been promised.
One witness said: “They were just intimidating people, It was terrifying to see them on the street with masks, No regard for anyone. Why ride on quiet streets, if not to frighten people?”

A driver described how a quad bike and a motorbike had “missed my car by inches” as she turned right into Glover Road. She added: “They were absolute idiots. I had a passenger in my vehicle which would have been the side they would have hit.”
Chief Superintendent Christine Wilson said: “We have now issued a dispersal order on Central Park following these concerns and local residents can expect an increased police presence throughout the weekend providing reassurance to the community. A number of people have already been dealt with for road traffic offences, we have seized multiple vehicles, and we are working with the local authority to inspect public areas followings reports of damage to fields in the area.
“Over the coming days, we will be reviewing the aerial footage taken, as well as CCTV footage to identify those involved, and would urge anyone who witnessed the incident, have CCTV or video footage from around the area to please contact us on our non-emergency number 101 quoting log 150 of January 27.”
