A whole host of offenders from across northern Lincolnshire were sentenced last week at Grimsby Magistrates’ Court.
While some cases were adjourned to a later date and others sent to Grimsby Crown Court, magistrates in Grimsby have still handed out suspended sentences, community orders and hefty fines in recent days – including to a man who assaulted and harassed another person, violent offenders who assaulted emergency workers and a motorist who drove whilst disqualified.
Here are eight people who were dealt with by magistrates in Grimsby last week.

Lee Atkinson, 46, of St Botolph’s Road, Scunthorpe pleaded guilty to assault by beating, harassment in which he continuously pestered the victim, driving without an appropriate licence, driving without insurance and taking a vehicle without the owner’s consent. He was given a three-year restraining order and a community order and ordered to pay a £114 victim services surcharge and £85 in costs to the Crown Prosecution Service.
Taylor Shaw, 18, of Queen Elizabeth Road, Humberston indicated pleas of guilty to two counts of assault by beating against an emergency worker and two counts of common assault against an emergency worker. He was given a community order and ordered to pay £100 in compensation, a £114 victim services surcharge and £85 in costs to the Crown Prosecution Service.
Brandon Madine, 26, of Sandhouse Crescent, Scunthorpe pleaded guilty to two counts of common assault against an emergency worker, namely two police officers, to using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour to cause harassment, alarm or distress and to obstructing or resisting a police constable in the execution of his duty. He was given a one-year suspended sentence order and ordered to pay £85 in costs to the Crown Prosecution Service.
Luke Sugden, 19, of Legsby Avenue, Grimsby pleaded guilty to common assault, two counts of criminal damage in which he smashed a window and damaged a wall, using racially aggravated words or behaviour with the intention to cause alarm or distress and using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour with intent to cause fear of or provoke unlawful violence. He was given a community order with the requirement to complete 100 hours of unpaid work.
Stefan Yull, 41, of Albert Place, Grimsby pleaded guilty to using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour with intent to cause fear of or provoke unlawful violence. He was given a one-year conditional discharge and ordered to pay a £26 victim services surcharge.
Iulian Ion, 23, of Burghley Road, Scunthorpe pleaded guilty to driving whilst disqualified, driving without insurance and driving a vehicle in a condition likely to cause danger of injury, namely by having three defective tyres with the cords exposed. He was handed six points on his licence and ordered to pay a £350 fine, a £140 victim services surcharge and £85 in costs to the Crown Prosecution Service.
Timothy Corlett, 31, of Beechcroft Drive, Kirton in Lindsey pleaded guilty to criminal damage in which he damaged car wing mirrors and a TV belonging to another. He was ordered to pay £1,210 in compensation.
Kurt Hatfield, 33, of Selge Way, Grimsby pleaded guilty to criminal damage in which he damaged a vehicle belonging to another. He was ordered to pay £500 in compensation and a £100 fine.
