Grimsby court list – Ten offenders named and shamed

A shop thief who carried a knife in public, a woman who subjected a person to a racially aggravated assault and a man who breached a restraining order have been sentenced at Grimsby Magistrates’ Court.

While some cases were adjourned to a later date or sent to Grimsby Crown Court, magistrates in Grimsby have still handed out prison sentences, community orders and hefty fines to offenders from across northern Lincolnshire in recent days.

Here are ten people who were sentenced at Grimsby Magistrates’ Court last week.

Thomas Shearer, 41, of Swinburne Road, Scunthorpe pleaded guilty to two counts of burglary other than dwelling in which he entered two stores with the intent to steal and three counts of theft from a shop in which he stole more than £125 worth of items. He was also found guilty of the possession of a bladed article in a public place, namely a kitchen knife. He was given an 18-month suspended sentence order, given an electronic monitoring tag for four months and ordered to undergo alcohol treatment. He was also ordered to pay £85 in costs to the Crown Prosecution Service.

Jessica Fielding, 31, of Ravenspurn Way, Grimsby pleaded guilty to two counts of racially aggravated assault by beating and two counts of using racially aggravated and threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour causing another person harassment, alarm or distress. She was given a community order with the requirement to abstain from alcohol for 120 days and ordered to complete 100 hours of unpaid work. She was also ordered to pay £300 in compensation.



Grimsby Magistrates Court

Gary Anderson, 43, of Oxford Street, Scunthorpe pleaded guilty to harassment and breaching a restraining order. He was jailed for 26 weeks and the restraining order was extended by another two years.

Samuel Ford, 34, of Duke Street, Grimsby pleaded guilty to two counts of using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour to cause harassment, alarm or distress and two counts of criminal damage in which he damaged a vehicle and glass windows. He was given a community order and ordered to pay £340 in compensation.

Craig Smith, 40, of Sussex Court, Grimsby indicated a plea of guilty to the common assault of an emergency worker, namely a police constable. He was given a one-year conditional discharge and ordered to pay £85 in costs to the Crown Prosecution Service and a £26 victim services surcharge.

Dana Clark, 29, of Chesswick Crescent, Keadby pleaded guilty to driving whilst under the influence of cocaine and cannabis. She was banned from driving for one year and ordered to pay a £120 fine, £85 in costs to the Crown Prosecution Service and a £48 victim services surcharge.

Patrick Gaynor, 51, of Barnes Crescent, Scunthorpe pleaded guilty to using threatening or abusive words or behaviour likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress. He was ordered to pay a £200 fine, £85 in costs to the Crown Prosecution Service and an £80 victim services surcharge.

Michael Foley, 27, of Ravenspurn Way, Grimsby indicated a plea of guilty to breaching a non-molestation order by sending messages to the victim. He was fined £333 and ordered to pay a £133 victim services surcharge and £85 in costs to the Crown Prosecution Service.

Bradley Towle, 33, of Prince Philip Drive, Barton upon Humber pleaded guilty to driving whilst under the influence of cannabis. He was banned from driving for three years and ordered to pay a £816 fine, a £326 victim services surcharge and £85 in costs to the Crown Prosecution Service.

Richard Kerman, 44, of Yarborough Road, Grimsby pleaded guilty to driving whilst above the legal alcohol limit. He was banned from driving for one year and ordered to pay a £120 fine, £85 in costs to the Crown Prosecution Service and a £48 victim services surcharge.
