Support for and from business leaders nurtured in Hull is stretching across the North Sea.
For Entrepreneurs Only has given a Danish delegation an insight into how the royally recognised network operates, as ambition to foster a similar start-up culture was voiced.
Chair Peter Aarosin and chief executive Jan Brumby met the visitors from Northern Jutland at the Danish Embassy in London. It is an area likened to the Humber by officials. And Mr Aarosin was more than happy to assist his native country folk as they look to establish such a safety net for entrepreneurs to call on.

“It went very, very well,” he said. “We spoke to the delegation, explained what we were doing in the UK, and they were very pleased to take it on board.
“Hull and East Riding is very much on the up, and it was nice to give the people of Denmark a flavour. Spreading the word about what we do locally is so important. We have some very, very exciting things on the go. All our programmes run through from school age to people wanting to exit their businesses. We have six or seven different programmes, the members get involved in delivering and receiving. It does such a lot of good for businesses.”
The delegation was on a three day trip, visiting various UK companies and learning about industries.
Per Kaag Andersen, deputy head of the commercial section at the Danish Embassy in London, has known Mr Aarosin for several years. When a request came through for help in supporting a start-up culture, a call was made to facilitate a meeting, with Mr Aarosin having taken the FEO chair in January.
Mr Andersen said: “The Danish delegation from Hjørring was very inspired, when learning about the many exciting activities in FEO. This part of Denmark shares challenges with the Humber region, so understanding how FEO is inspiring and supporting a local start-up culture was very much food for thought. Both the delegation and the Danish Embassy really appreciated FEO taking time out to come down to London to share their experiences.”
Launched in 2011, FEO is made up of entrepreneurs representing more than 200 successful businesses of all sizes and across many sectors. Members employ more than 24,000 people and contribute more than £4 billion to the local economy. In 2021 it was awarded The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service.
