Jeremy Corbin stands as Independent Candidate in Islington
Former Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn has handed in his nomination papers to officially stand as an Independent candidate in Islington North.
He was met with cheers and chants of “Oh Jeremy Corbyn” from supporters as he left Islington Town Hall.
Mr Corbyn said: “In Parliament I will be that voice for peace, justice and equality.”
He added he will take the campaign to “every door in Islington North”, adding: “Do you know what, we’re going to win this.”
He told reporters “It has been an honour to serve my community and stand up for a better world.”
