Part of the A18 is shut this afternoon (Friday, October 6) and there are warnings of delays following a crash involving four vehicles. Emergency services are on the scene of the incident near Scunthorpe and police say drivers should avoid the area.
In a post on X, formerly Twitter, at just after 3.35pm, Humberside Police said: “Road closures are currently in place on the A18 at Mortal Ash Hill following reports of a collision involving four vehicles. Emergency services are in attendance and motorists are advised to avoid the area where possible.”
Meanwhile traffic monitoring service Inrix said: “A18 Westbound closed, heavy traffic due to accident from The A15 (Forest Pines Roundabout, Broughton, Brigg) to B1398 Kirton Road (Raventhorpe, Scunthorpe). Sensors are showing that the road is closed in the westbound direction, while also being partially blocked in the eastbound direction.”
