A 43-year-old man has sustained potentially life-threatening injuries following an assault in Scunthorpe.
Police were called to Frodingham Road at around 10.40pm on Thursday night following reports that a man had been assaulted.
A man was taken to hospital to be treated for a serious head injury that is thought to be potentially life-threatening. Nearby, a 31-year-old man was arrested nearby on suspicion of section 18 wounding with intent.

He was also arrested on suspicion of assaulting an emergency worker and remains in custody as police continue with their enquiries.
Detective Inspector Scott Miller of Humberside Police said: “I understand that an incident like this is likely to cause concern amongst the community, but I would like to reassure people that we do believe this to be an isolated incident between people known to each other.
“Those within the area can expect to see an increased number of officers and I would ask anyone with concerns to please come speak to them.
“I would urge anyone who has information, or has CCTV or dashcam footage that may assist with our enquiries to please contact us on our non-emergency number 101 quoting log 568 of 23 May.”
