Netflix series ‘Bodies’ release date after scenes filmed in Grimsby

A highly-anticipated new Netflix series, filmed in Grimsby, will be released on the streaming platform next week.

‘Bodies’ is an eight-part series, which looks into the lives of four different detectives trying to solve murders in different time periods, from the 1890s to 2050. The series is set in London, however, filming locations included Grimsby, Hull, Leeds and Bradford.

The Netflix series features scenes at Grimsby Docks and The Kasbah, which have been promoted as filming locations by ABP. Previously, the site has hosted film sets for Discovery TV series Wheeler Dealers, the 2007 critically acclaimed film Atonement, and Three Day Millionaire.

Previously, a partnership between ABP, North East Lincolnshire Council and Historic England said: “Filming and photography are an important part of helping conserve the Kasbah location and supporting the future survival of these buildings. All monies raised from this are put back in to the area to assist in conservation, and renovation.”

One of the positives of filming at the Kasbah is its status as a private site with good control of access and no road closure issues. It also has production office spaces.

The ‘Bodies’ film crew were spotted on site in May 2022, before moving over to Hull to film scenes in June. People from Hull and Grimsby were encouraged to sign up to be paid extras in the production.

Information at the time suggests Word War II scenes were filmed in Grimsby, while a protest battleground scene was among those filmed in Hull. In Hull’s High Street, onlookers could spot groups of ‘protestors’ chanting, while ‘policemen’ in riot gear intervened. A knight on an armoured white horse also entered the scene.

The release date for the series – based on the graphic novel by Si Spencer, is Thursday, October 19 and is Notable cast members include Peaky Blinder’s Stephen Graham and The Queen’s Gambit’s Jacob Fortune-Lloyd.
