New bar and bistro gears up to open this week in the heart of Grimsby

A brand new bar and bistro offering a wide range of eclectic dishes and bottomless brunches has set up shop in the heart of Grimsby.

Situated in Abbeygate, Better Days is the brainchild of Paige and Vicky Fytche-Crossman, who together run both Bar 41 and InsideOut on Sea View Street in Cleethorpes.

Following a huge refurbishment, the quirky eatery is set to officially open to the public on Friday, May 31, and will serve an array of brunch options from the Better Days Flatbread, Fettucine Crepe and Eggs Benedict to sweet treats like the pancake stacker and French toast with a Biscoff drizzle.

By evening, Better Days will transform from a brunch spot into a chic bistro, serving up sharers such as charcuterie boards and baked Camembert, as well as seven flatbreads, each featuring tastes and flavours from a different world cuisine.

Building on their cocktail-making expertise, Vicky and Paige have also chosen 20 cocktails to feature on the menu, with cocktail bottomless brunches and special two-for-one offers planned.

The Better Days Flatbread

Speaking to Grimsby Live, Vicky said: “We’re really excited and thrilled to be opening a third place. We’ve got the bars in Cleethorpes where we don’t have food options so it’s completely different for us to have a kitchen. We’ve wanted to do this for a while.

“Bar 41 turned two in April. We didn’t initially expect it to take off this much, but because of the amount of time and effort we put into customer service and our cocktail menus, we kind of knew [our bars] would be a success.

“I think it comes down to being customer-focused. We want to make sure the menus are what people want and for customers to feel they’ve had a really nice experience in a place they visually enjoy being in and want to take pictures in.

Better Days will also serve up delicious pancake stackers

“Upstairs is a designated area for people who want to host private events, for additional seating and for cocktail bottomless brunches. We do really well with our bottomless brunches in Cleethorpes, and as we were looking at what’s available in Grimsby, a bottomless brunch never came up.

“So we wanted to bring something new to Grimsby, and upstairs is perfectly designed for that. We’ve got a big neon sign on the wall for people to take pictures. We’ve kept the place quite industrial looking while also being glam and trendy. There’s plant pots everywhere and a rustic antique mirror at the bar counter. It’s a good space for people.”

Better Days will open from Wednesdays to Sundays from 9.30am until late. You can like the new bar and bistro’s Facebook page here and Instagram page here.
