A disused car park could be turned into forty flats in the heart of Scunthorpe.
A planning application has been made to convert a former private car park in Dunstall Street, Scunthorpe, into a four floor block of up to 40 flats. There would also be 20 car parking spaces.
RGB & KC Woollin are the applicants. It is currently proposed that each floor would have 10 flats.

The flats would be divided into 32 one-bed and eight two-bed homes. A design and access statement by BSB Architecture says it is in “a highly sustainable location”. The flats would be less half a mile from the town’s railway station, and served by bus stops along Oswald Road and Station Road.
The site was agricultural land until the mid-20th century. It was used for commercial and industrial purposes, including as a depot, until the 2000s, when the structure was demolished. It has recently stopped being used as a car park.
Because of its last use, the land is mostly hardstanding, with some areas of broken tarmac and stone. The planning application is for outline permission. This means acceptance of the principle of development is sought. Detail on the final layout, appearance, and landscaping would appear at a later stage, if it is approved.
Citycare has on behalf of the NHS North Lincolnshire Health Care Partnership, requested S106 developer funding of almost £35,000 if it is built. It states state in its request: “There are multiple surgeries in close proximity to the proposed development, including The Birches Medical Practice, The Oak Tree Medical Practice, Cedar Medical Practice and Oswald Road Medical Surgery.
“They are already under pressure due to space limitations, therefore, any increase in new housing will likely impact requests for new patient registrations, potentially increasing the list size and demand for clinical services.”
