A new national retailer will soon be opening in Grimsby’s Frehsney Place.
One Beyond, which sells 4,000 products at £1, will open in the former Poundland building near to the Riverhead entrance having invested £300,000 in the new store. The shop will also provide 20 jobs for the area inside the 9,000 sqft site.
The discount retailer offers a wide range of health and beauty products, cleaning, household, DIY, tech, toys and pet supplies. With the store opening this week, there are already 270 Halloween products ready and waiting on the shelves to get people in the spooky spirit.
Damon Clarke, head of retail and property at One Beyond, said: “It’s exciting to be opening in Grimsby and we’re delighted to have created 20 jobs in the local area.
“The concept for One Beyond is to offer over 4,000 quality products for just £1, plus there are also hundreds of incredible finds that go beyond £1. We offer thousands of exciting products that would usually be more expensive elsewhere, so we hope that our low prices will benefit the local community.”
Alex Hyams, senior asset manager from Queensberry, the strategic asset management partner for Freshney Place Shopping Centre added: “We’re pleased to have One Beyond opening a store in Freshney Place.
“Not only is this a positive story for the local economy, through investment and job creation. It also brings a value offer to the town centre at a time when cost of living pressure is being felt by many of us.”
The news comes after the recent announcement that New Look will return to Frehsney Place tomorrow, Thursday, 19 October. The store originally closed in January last year, but announced it would be coming back to the centre last month.
This marks the beginning of the centre’s transformation that will see a new market, cinema and rejuvenated pedestrianised zones over the next three years. Last week, the West side of the centre was closed to allow a number of surveys to take place before work begins. The estimated completion time for the transformation is 2025.
