Pair who ’caused havoc’ in Scunthorpe pub are jailed

Two men have been jailed after they “caused havoc” when they violently clashed in a Scunthorpe pub.

Cameron Reilly and Daniel Woodley were in a bar in Frodingham Road at around 7pm on July 31 when violence erupted between them. During the incident, Reilly pulled a small machete out from his waist band and slashed Woodley across his arm. He then chased him onto the road outside.

Reilly then ran off towards Doncaster Road, with Woodley left bleeding from his injury who walked in the other direction. However, shortly afterwards, the paid crossed paths again in a pub in Oswald Road and another violent altercation took place.

During this incident, Woodley punched Reilly, knocking him to the floor. Reilly again pulled the machete out and, this time, chased Woodley into the busy pub garden. Woodley then picked up a chair to throw, punched Reilly to the floor, and then stamped on him and kicked him in the head.

When police arrived at the scene, the pair were found in the beer garden where they were arrested.

Both men have now been sentenced in court. Reilly, 23, of no fixed abode, admitted affray and possession of a bladed article. He was sentenced to ten months’ imprisonment, with an additional six months to run concurrently.

Woodley, 31, of Normanby Road, Scunthorpe, admitted affray and possession of a bladed article. He was sentenced to ten months in prison, along with three months to run concurrently.

Leading the investigation was Detective Constable Scott Massey from Humberside Police’s Criminal Investigation Department. He said: “Reilly and Woodley are violent individuals who caused havoc in a public place whilst innocent bystanders were trying to enjoy their night out in the local pub.

“Reilly left the house that day armed with a machete with the intent to use it at whatever opportunity he was given. Woodley then quickly responded with a violent vendetta in a public place.

“Violent crime will not be tolerated, and we will always do everything we can to keep those who cause the most harm to our communities off our streets.”
