Police were called to a burglary in progress at a Scunthorpe pub in the middle of the night and arrested a 38-year-old man.
At 2.45am on Wednesday morning, officers attended a pub on Bottesford Road following reports from a local resident that entry had been gained to the premises.
Upon attendance, police conducted a search and discovered a 38-year-old man behind the bar in possession of tools.
A 38-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of burglary and remains in police custody as officers conduct their enquiries.
A spokesperson for Humberside Police said: “A man is currently in our custody after officers were called to reports of a burglary in progress at 2.45am this morning (Wednesday 6 September).
“We were called to attend Bottesford Lane following reports from a local resident that they believed entry was being gained to a pub.
“Officers were deployed and following a thorough search are reported to have located a man behind the bar in possession of tools.
“A 38-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of burglary and remains in our custody whilst enquiries continue.
