Police pursuit after ‘masked’ boys ‘try door handles in night’ in Bottesford

Police gave chase after residents reported “masked” youths trying door handles in the early hours of this morning (Sunday) in Bottesford.

Two teenage boys were arrested after a short pursuit. Residents had reported youths trying doors and Humberside Police were called to the area at around 4.30am. Officers spotted two people “acting suspiciously in a vehicle” on Low Leys Road. The suspects are believed to have fled the scene in the vehicle.

A short pursuit followed and police stopped the vehicle in Burringham Road. Two teenage boys then attempted to flee on foot.

They were swiftly located nearby and arrested. A spokesperson for Humberside Police said: “Following lines of enquiry, the vehicle is believed to have been stolen from a property on Low Leys Road and both boys were subsequently arrested on suspicion of burglary and theft of a motor vehicle.

“Both remain in our custody whilst enquiries continue.
