A popular clothing retailer is set to replace the Clarks shoe shop in Freshney Place.
QUIZ has confirmed it will open in in place of Clarks at the beginning of December, just in time for Christmas. The women’s clothing shop already has a home in Freshney Place, on the north side of the shopping centre near HMV and The Perfume Shop.
However, its new unit will be bigger and better and in a more central location. Until the new QUIZ shop opens, the existing store will remain open as usual.

A QUIZ spokesperson said: “We are looking forward to relocating and opening an exciting new and larger QUIZ store in Grimsby. The new store is on track to open in early December, in time for Christmas. Until that time we will continue to welcome customers in Grimsby and offer them the latest looks at fantastic value in our existing store.”
Clarks announced its impending closure last week, much to the sadness of customers who had been buying school shoes there for years. The retailer has confirmed it will be closing its doors at the end of the month with the nearest alternative shops being in Louth, Scunthorpe and Hull.
A Clarks spokesperson said: “Clarks confirms its store at the Freshney Place Shopping Centre, Grimsby, will close at the end of October 2023. We have a strong duty of care to all our employees, and we are working closely with the store team as they go through a period of consultation. Customers can continue to shop from our full range of products online and at our nearby Clarks stores in Louth and Hull.”
It was not immediately clear if another tenant is being lined up to take over the existing QUIZ store after the brand relocates.
