The annual Scunthorpe Christmas Lights Switch On has been announced with plenty of festive fun lined up.
Taking place on Saturday, November 23, it promises an afternoon filled with street theatre, magic shows, delicious food stalls, music and song, all culminating in the big switch on at 5.30pm by Dame Annie Fanny.
The festivities kick off at midday on the High Street, where shoppers will be entertained by the Grinch, gingerbread men, an elf stilt walker, a clockwork ballerina and a Victorian Christmas magic show.
In addition, there will be circus skills workshops and Back Chat Brass will be parading through the town playing festive tunes.
Food vendors will be offering hot chocolate, pancakes and waffles, burgers and German sausage hotdogs.
Scunthorpe Central Library has planned activities and entertainment throughout the afternoon, including children’s crafts, a Victorian choir, a face painter and a Snow White escape room. A quiet room will also be available for those needing a break from the excitement.
2021 Visual Arts Centre is also hosting craft events and activities and will be unveiling its Christmas cafe menu.
St John’s Market will be buzzing with entertainment too, including children’s entertainment, live music, a Letters To Santa station and a chance to meet Santa and Mrs Claus at the Christmas grotto.
