A Scunthorpe special needs primary school has got planning approval to expand.
Grimsby Live reported last month that St Luke’s Primary School, in Grange Lane North, was applying for extensions to accommodate growing demand. It already has around 190 children on its books.
The purpose-built SEND school has a range of facilities including a hydrotherapy pool, teaching kitchen and sensory differences room. The extensions, at either end of the main building, will together add two more classrooms, a quiet room and extra office space.

A new hard standing play area is also planned north of the building on an existing playing field. This will act also as an outdoor learning space. The car park would also grow in size to include another 13 spaces.
The current car park already cannot meet the needs of staff and parents. Pupil enrolment numbers are also expected to increase to 210 for the September 2025 school year.
A phased approach will take place to the construction of the new facilities, with the car park first up. Conditional planning approval has been given. Among the conditions is that two trees to be removed to create new car park bays cannot be removed until the details of the new saplings to replace them are agreed with North Lincolnshire Council.
