Before we were dancing like it was a Disco 2000 in the ’90s, Some Might Say it was the perfect era of British music.
Cleethorpes will be once again welcoming all the people to Parklife – The Sound Of Britpop, a celebration of music from the most legendary bands in recent memory.
By covering big names such as The Verve, Pulp and Oasis, there will be something for all the Girls & Boys in attendance. The Rock ‘n’ Roll Stars will even throw in a Sonnet or two in their playlist.

Songbird Greg Webb told Grimsby Live: “I play in a big band called The Illegal Eagles – we go around all the country playing in the big theatres and have done so for a few years now. Me and my mate Kris quite like the sound of Britpop, and it’s taken off to become its own theatre show.”
The Sound Of Britpop began during the pandemic when the band started posting to YouTube, where they soon realised that there was a demand for the throwback tunes. The band loves tapping into people’s nostalgia for less stressful times, which is why they have been such a hit since lockdown.
“It’s something we started back in Cleethorpes, so we always try to bring it back home to do a local show. We’re a five-piece band, and we do all Blur, Oasis, Verve, Manic Street Preachers, Stereophonics – all the classics from ’94 to ’96. Every song we do was a hit – There She Goes, Common People, Don’t Look Back In Anger.”
Shifting between different bands and their songs proved to be a challenge for the band. Greg’s bandmate, Kris Edwards previously said: “Going from Blur to Oasis can be difficult, but we make sure we’ve got the right person singing the right song to make it as close to the original as possible.
“People enjoy our shows and often liken it to the Wheatsheaf in the ’90s where they’d be listening to the Manic Street Preachers, Reef and Ocean Colour Scene.”
Parklife – The Sound Of Britpop will be held at Beachcomber Holiday Park and Entertainment Centre in Cleethorpes on Saturday, November 25. The event will run from 7pm until late, and tickets can be found here.
