Star in the car! Lloyd Griffith offers lift to Grimsby Town fans heading to Stockport game

Grimsby comedian Lloyd Griffith stepped up to give Grimsby Town fans a kind offer this morning, as he prepared to head to Stockport for the Mariners’ League 2 away game.

With some spare seats in his car, Lloyd asked his Twitter followers whether any of them needed a lift to Greater Manchester. The only condition was that anyone taking him up on the offer “didn’t stink”.

Writing at 8.23am, Lloyd said: “If any town fans need a lift today to Stockport, I have two spaces in my car. Leaving at 9-ish though and only going there as staying over (no return baby). I mean, not the best offer in the world, but if you need it and you don’t stink, give me a shout #GTFC”.

Within only a few minutes, the spaces were filled. One Twitter user replied to Lloyd’s tweet, asking for a space, to which Lloyd asked where he lived. When the man said, ‘New Waltham if that’s okay?’, Lloyd joked: “F*** ME MATE YOU MAY AS WELL LIVE IN STOCKPORT”.

The comedian took to his Instagram yesterday to confirm he was heading back up to Grimsby for his 40th birthday celebrations. Today he will be watching Grimsby Town go up against Stockport County FC, who are currently League Two front runners. Many town fans have set off already for kick-off at 3pm.
