Tragedy as woman, 75, dies after being hit by car in Owston Ferry

A 75-year-old woman has died after being hit by a car in Owston Ferry.

Emergency services were called to East Lound Road at around 10am on Thursday, December 12, following repots that a blue Mini Cooper car had collided with two pedestrians who were walking on the path towards Owston Ferry.

One of the pedestrians, a 75-year-old woman, was taken to hospital to receive treatment where she remained in a critical condition for over three weeks. But despite the efforts of medical professionals, she sadly died as a result of her injuries on Saturday.

The second pedestrian, a woman aged 77, was also treated at hospital for serious injuries.

A 76-year-old man was subsequently arrested on suspicion of driving whilst unfit through drink or drugs and careless driving causing serious injury. He has since been released under investigation whilst police continue lines of enquiries.

Officers continue to appeal for information and CCTV or dashcam footage from around the time the collision happened.

A Humberside Police spokesperson said: “If anyone has any information that could assist with the investigation or has CCTV or dashcam footage from around the time the collision occurred, please call our non-emergency number 101 quoting crime reference 24*176080 of 12 December.”
