Two arrested after traffic officers carry out pursuit on M180

Police officers were involved in a pursuit on the M180 following the theft of a car.

Two men have been arrested following reports that a white Ford Fiesta was stolen from the car park of a supermarket in Doncaster Road, Scunthorpe, at around 10pm on Monday.

Traffic officers from the Kinetic Road Crime Team and Humberside Police Roads Policing Unit were deployed and spotted a Volvo that is believed to have been involved.

Following a pursuit, a 33-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle, driving dangerously, failing to stop, possession of cannabis, driving whilst disqualified and driving without insurance.

The Volvo was seen being driven at speed on the M180 and, after a pursuit, a 24-year-old man was also arrested on suspicion of driving dangerously, failing to stop, using a motor vehicle without insurance, and driving without a licence.

A Humberside Police spokesperson said: “Both remain in our custody at this time whilst enquiries continue. Anyone who has information or has CCTV or dashcam footage that may assist with our enquiries is asked to please contact us on our non-emergency 101 number quoting log 473 of 18 November. You can also report information anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
