Two teens arrested after ‘attempted robbery with handgun’ in Scunthorpe

Two teens have been arrested on suspicion of attempted robbery and possession of a firearm following an incident in Scunthorpe.

Police were called to a shop in Burringham Road at around 7.45pm on Monday following reports that two people had entered wearing masks and in possession of what has been described as a handgun, before fleeing the scene.

After a search of the area, a 16-year-old boy and an 18-year-old man were arrested. Both remain in police custody as officers continue with their enquiries.

A spokesperson for Humberside Police said: “We would appeal to anyone who was in the area around the time of the incident, or anyone who has CCTV or dashcam footage that may assist with our enquires to contact us on our non-emergency number 101 quoting log 524 of 23 October.”
