North Yorkshire’s Bond International has acquired Spring Distribution (Scotland) Ltd along with a 200,000 sqft warehouse in Scotland.
The £299m turnover, Pocklington-based tyre wholesaler says the move for Bathgate’s Spring Distribution is part of ongoing growth, and follows three earlier acquisitions this year. It is intended to give Bond, which has bases across England, the ability to serve a large proportion of Scotland from the warehouse location on the M8, meaning it can deliver several times a day to Glasgow and Edinburgh.
So far this year, Bond has also acquired Stepgrades Motor Accessories Ltd, trading as Viking Wholesale Tyres, and Birkenshaw Distributors Ltd from Halfords Group. Bond has been advised on its acquisitions by Leeds-based firm Clarion Law.

Charlie Bond, Bond International CEO, said: “Another part of our expansion plan was a site in Scotland. We have been fortunate to find a warehouse not only big enough for our anticipated sales levels, but in the perfect location, logistically, to be able to give all of our Scotland based customers high delivery service levels. This is another step in our ongoing expansion plan and the team at Clarion were integral in facilitating and supporting the deal. We look forward to working with them further as we continue to expand.”
Jonathan Simms, partner in Clarion’s corporate team said: “We’re always pleased to support thriving businesses with an entrepreneurial spirit that matches our own. Bond are a pleasure to work with and the team are really enjoying supporting them on their exciting journey. This latest acquisition in Scotland further enhances Bond’s excellent customer service.”
Last year Bond International revised plans for a new headquarters at Pocklington, on the back of growth. Latest accounts for the firm, covering 2022, show 19% revenue growth in sales revenue.
