‘Vulnerable’ Scunthorpe woman, 31, goes missing for second time as sister begs for help

A woman recently reported missing in Scunthorpe has now disappeared for a second time, sparking concerns for her safety.

Zoe Bass, 31, originally went missing from her parents’ home in Scunthorpe at 4am on Thursday, December, 7. She was found by the police walking along the motorway in Bristol and taken to Rotherham, where she has now absconded for a second time, Yorkshire Live reports.

Her sister, Sami French, said the family is “sick with worry” and she has issued a desperate appeal for help. Zoe went missing yesterday at 1.40pm December 13.

She was last seen nearby Kiveton Park, Rotherham, where she reportedly asked a lorry driver for a lift. Sami said Zoe told the driver she was taking part in a Christmas competition with a friend to get to the other side of the county.

The driver declined to give her a lift and there have been no confirmed sightings of her since. Sami said the family are becoming increasingly concerned as he Zoe has no money, no phone and no coat and is in a town that is completely unfamiliar to her.

Zoe is understood to be wearing a grey zip up hoodie and a t-shirt with donuts on the front, jeans and blue trainers. Sami said she has very distinctive medium-length, dusky blonde, frizzy hair.

It is understood that Zoe approached the lorry driver for a lift telling him that she was taking part in a competition with a friend to see who could make it across the country the quickest without any money. Her request was declined and she has not been since since.

Zoe’s sister Sami said she will often use fake names including Eve Langden or often her sister’s name, Sami French or Samantha French.

South Yorkshire Police have appealed for information, saying that Zoe was last seen yesterday (13 December) around 1.45pm leaving a property on Aughton Road in Swallownest, South Yorkshire.

Sami said: “She is a vulnerable person. We are all worried sick, we feel like we are just waiting for the call that nobody wants. We don’t know anything at the minute and it’s the not knowing, we are at a loss.

“She has no friends in the area and she hasn’t contacted anybody that’s known to her. We have no idea where she might be trying to get to, she had previously mentioned Cirencester, but there is no reason for her to go there, as there wasn’t with Bristol.

“Please Zoe get in touch and let us know where you are and that you are safe. We are all worried sick about you, we won’t stop until we find you. We Love you, please come back to us.”

Anyone who may have seen Zoe, or knows of her whereabouts, is asked to call South Yorkshire Police on 101 or at www.southyorkshire.police.uk/101livechat, quoting reference 445 of 13/12/23.
