“May the Fourth Be With You” – Freshney Place, Saturday May 4
Any Star Wars fans will be excited to see Storm Troopers invading Freshney Place between 11am and 3pm on Saturday. As part of the celebration of Star Wars Day, you will have the chance to meet the iconic soldiers of the galactic empire right here in Grimsby.
Observance of Star Wars Day or “May the Fourth Be With You” has spread quickly since the first grassroots celebrations began shortly after George Lucas created the franchise in 1977. It’s a pun on the popular Jedi greeting, “May the force be with you”.

P*ssed Up Panto – Grimsby Auditorium, Sunday May 5
P*ssed Up Panto is currently touring the UK and is coming to Grimsby Auditorium on May 5. The organisers say its theatre group has been “causing hilarious havoc around the UK since 2021”.
It promises its latest panto, Jack and the Beanstalk, will result in “tears of laughter and soaked-through theatre seats nationwide”. Explaining how it works, the organisers said: “Along with all the usual adult panto fun, the audience vote each night for the one performer who must complete savage drinking challenges throughout the show.
“As the victim gets slowly more and more sozzled, they must, along with the rest of the cast, keep the show rolling on to its happy climax…!” Tickets can be purchased from Grimsby Auditorium.
Neverends: Judith Tucker’s Fitties at Cleethorpes Library on Monday, May 6
On Bank holiday Monday, you can visit a special memorial art show of Judith Tucker’s paintings of The Humberston Fitties. It comes six months after Judith was tragically killed in a car accident on November 13 last year.
The event page on Facebook says: “The Fitties, one of the few remaining plotlands left in the UK, lies just two a half miles from Cleethorpes, a ramshackle and individualistic collection of seaside chalets creating a unique community since between the wars.
“A unique selection of Judith’s work, from her earliest paintings of the site to the Night Fitties series and most recent Hideaway archival paintings, alongside works that highlight the natural environment and represent her collaboration with poet Harriet Tarlo, will be shown for local people to engage again with her practice and remember her.”
Abba Dabba Two – The Grosvenor, Monday May 6
The Grosvenor in Humberston Road, Cleethorpes is hosting ABBA tribute band Abba Dabba Two for bank holiday Monday. On its Fcebook page it says: “Grab those dancing shoes as this will be one to remember! As always our live entertainment is absolutely free – why go anywhere else?”
