The weather in northern Lincolnshire is finally perfect for days out at the beach and soaking up the rays in a pub garden.
As of 3pm on Friday, the Grimsby and Scunthorpe area will be roasting at temperatures pushing towards 30C. Overnight, temperatures will stay between 18C and 22C which could result in poor sleep for those sensitive to the heat.
When temperatures do not fall below 20C overnight this is known as a ‘tropical night’, according to the Met Office though there is more of a chance of this happening in south-east England tonight. However, things are set to change soon with the weather forecaster adding: “The warmth is unlikely to last more than a few days, with a return to the cooler, more unsettled weather like we’ve been used to so far this July, by the weekend.”

Explaining the mini heatwave in the Met Office’s ten-day trend video, meteorologist Annie Shuttleworth said: “For the last few weeks, we’ve been on the northern side of the jet stream and over the next few days, its position will change.
“It becomes a more amplified pattern, diving down well to the south of the UK and taking low pressure systems up to the north and west of the UK. But, as we head towards the weekend, Sunday most likely, will see the return of the stronger jet core to affect the UK, meaning it is going to turn a bit more unsettled and certainly cooler again.”
In northern Lincolnshire, Saturday will be a bit cooler but still very warm, with temperatures reaching 25C by midday. It could become a bit cloudy in the afternoon but the heat will persist, meaning it’s finally the season for barbecues and garden parties. There is also a risk of heavy, thundery showers developing later on which will be moving in “erratically” from the west.

While it’s blissful for many after enduring weeks of rain, some people do not enjoy the heat. However, those who wilt in hot weather will be glad to hear that Sunday is predicted to be much cooler at 21C which is about average for July in our part of the world.
The rest of next week is expected to be pleasant, with temperatures hovering between 21C and 23C from Monday to Friday. It will largely be sunny with some patches of cloud.
Today marks exactly two years since record-breaking temperatures of up to 40C hit and England was under a “red” extreme heat warning. Fortunately this year, the mini heatwave is much milder.
